ALERT MESSAGE

Announcements

  • Notice to Elementary Parents: Please note that PMSD has not approved a new charter school to open in 2017.  Advertisements and notices that state otherwise are misleading to our elementary parents. PMSD accepts charter school applications on November 15 for the following school year, as required by law. If an application is received, PMSD must then thoroughly evaluate the application to determine if the application meets the specific criteria established under the PA Charter School Law for charter schools. A very exacting and detailed review process takes place to ensure only the very best educational opportunities for our students and to protect our taxpayers. Charter schools in PMSD are primarily funded through local school property taxes, due to the low amount of state funding (less than 30 percent) received for our schools. Charter schools are not free for our local property owners.
