Coordinated Health is excited to announce a new program honoring some of the most deserving high school athletes in the area. Coordinated Health is teaming up with the Morning Call and ESPN radio to re-launch an Athlete of the Week series running from September through November. High school sports fans will be able to vote for their favorite Athlete of the Week in real-time at (http://www.mcall.com/sports/athleteoftheweek/). Based on fan votes, the Morning Call’s team of award-winning sports reporters will choose the Athlete of the Week.
As part of the recognition program, each selected athlete will be offered:
• An interview on ESPN 1230 during the CH Sports Medicine Hour at 7 p.m. on Mondays.
• A feature in the Morning Call Sports section on Tuesdays.
• A $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Coordinated Health.
Students, parents, and community members should visit the Morning Call Athlete of the Week page (http://www.mcall.com/sports/athleteoftheweek/) to nominate their favorite athletes. Winners will be contacted on Monday afternoons, and the athletes will immediately be asked to appear on the radio show that evening.
The Athlete of the Week will culminate at the end of the 2013 fall sports season with the announcement of the Coordinated Health Athlete of the Year. The prestigious Athlete of the Year will award a one-time $10,000 scholarship to the region’s top male or female athlete who has showcased athletic performance, sportsmanship and leadership both on and off the field.
