Pocono Mountain School District honors Veterans

The following events are planned to commemorate Veterans’ Day:

Barrett Elementary Center: School-wide Veterans’ Day assembly beginning at 9:30 a.m., Nov. 9. After the assembly, the students will participate in a flag raising ceremony and will form a large flag comprised of students and faculty. 

Clear Run Elementary Center: Each grade level will participate in a variety of Veterans’ Day activities, in addition to a morning presentation on Nov. 9.

Coolbaugh Learning Center/Coolbaugh Elementary Center: Veterans’ Day assembly beginning at 9:30 a.m., Nov. 9.

Pocono Elementary Center:  School wide Veterans’ Day assembly on Monday, Nov. 12 beginning at 9:15.  Each grade level will also be participating in a variety of Veterans’ Day activities.

Swiftwater Elementary Center: Each grade level will participate in a variety of Veterans’ Day activities on Nov. 9, in addition to a flag raising ceremony in the afternoon. 

Tobyhanna Elementary Center:  Each grade level will participate in a variety of Veterans’ Day activities on Nov. 9.  Grades four and five will have class assemblies with local Veterans’ groups.

Clear Run Intermediate School:  Each grade level will participate in a variety of Veterans’ Day activities on Nov. 9.  In addition, sixth grade students will have team assemblies with local Veterans’ groups.  Seventh grade students will view a United Streaming video on the importance of Veterans’ Day.

Swiftwater Intermediate School:  School wide Veterans’ Day breakfast and assembly beginning at 8 a.m., on Nov. 9, with the assembly commencing in the East High School auditorium at 9 a.m.   

PM West Junior High School:  Each grade level will be participating in a variety of Veterans Day activities on Nov. 9.

Pocono Mountain Academy: Sgt. Jason Van Wert, who recently returned from a tour of Iraq, will make presentations to Social Studies classes at the Academy on Nov. 9.

PM East High School:  School-wide Veterans’ Day assembly with local Veterans on Nov. 9.  This will include a presentation of the colors and a flag raising ceremony.  Mr. Jon Reifer, Special Education Supervisor, will be the honored guest at this assembly.  Mr. Reifer recently returned from a deployment to Iraq.

PM West High School: A presentation by three Vietnam Veterans will take place throughout the day on Thursday, Nov. 8.  In addition, Social Studies classes will be conducting activities on Friday, Nov. 9.  There will be a school wide presentation broadcast in the afternoon.
