Four freshmen from Pocono Mountain West Junior High School were selected to participate in the 13th Annual Pennsylvania American Choral Directors Association Honor Choir in August at the Penn State University School of Music.
Amanda VanFleet, Abriya Wollet, Alicia Ferguson and Ashley Nyitray studied under guest conductor Joy Hirokawa, the founder and artistic director of the Bel Canto Children’s Chorus. The junior high honor choir singers also learned from composer, clinician Stephen Hatfield, who worked with all of the vocalists to prepare them for their concert performance at the University during the two-day choir festival.
The four freshmen singers from PM West Junior High School were the only singers from Monroe County schools to participate in the ACDA-PA Middle School/Junior High School honor choir.
