Guidance at Barrett is designed to be preventive and needs focused. Teacher, parent, and student initiated referrals aid in the process of meeting the counseling needs of the student population.
Our goals at Barrett are:
* To guide students through social, emotional, and academic challenges.
* To help identify children with special needs.
* To consult with parents, teachers, administrators and community agencies to better understand and meet the needs of students through a collaborative effort.
* To provide crisis counseling when necessary.
* To incorporate a comprehensive guidance curriculum with regard to social skills, study skills, and career education.
The specific services we provide include:
* Individual and group counseling
* Consultation
* Providing parent resources
* Peer Mediation Training
* Social Skills Education
* Team member for Instructional Support and Special Education
