Ski Club

Drama Club

Fifth grade students at CEC have the opportunity to ski or snowboard at Camelback Ski Resort in Tannersville. Students travel to the mountain 6 times throughout the winter season where they receive an hour long lesson from Camelback ski and snowboard instructors. After the lesson, students have free ski time which allows them to practice some of the skills they have learned in their lessons. This year the program starts on January 3rd and we will continue skiing each Thursday night until February 7th.  Advisors for the program are Mr. Lukashefski, Mr. McCabe, and Ms. DePietro.

Grade five students have the opportunity to audition for the “drama club”. The club’s advisors are Mr. D. Adomiak, & Mrs. D. Jones. This year’s presentation of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, will be presented to the CEC/CLC student body at the following times:

December 18th  9:30 Grade 1

                            2:30  Grade 3

December 19th   9:30 Grade 2

                            2:30 Grades 4 & 5

The performance for family & friends will be at 7:05 p.m. on December 19, 2007

Step Club

Odyssey of the Mind

The Coolbaugh 2007 Step Team consists of 32 fifth grade boys and girls. We work on drills to warm up which would be marching and learning to keep in step with one another as well as line formation.  The routines we work on teach them clapping and stomping to a certain beat.  The steppers learn to work together as a team and help one another. The steppers performed at the CEC variety show in February & were a “hit” as usual!

Odyssey of the Mind is a program recognized throughout the world. The main purpose of the program is to teach creative, cooperative problem solving strategies to students.

Students are encouraged to “think out of the box”. Coolbaugh has two teams comprised of fourth & fifth grade students who will compete in a regional competition in March, solving both long term & spontaneous problems.  This years teams, both finished second & will advance to the state finals in Altoona, April 12, 2008.
