The
Educational Assistance Program
Students
at Swiftwater Elementary Center
have the opportunity to participate in the Elementary Summer Reading and Math
Program. As part of the Governor’s Tutorial Initiative, school district
employees work with small groups of qualifying students to improve reading and
math skills. Students receive twenty-four sessions of instruction at no cost. Bus
transportation to and from SEC is provided.
The Elementary
Summer Reading and Math Program is a five-week program that is held
approximately from the end of June until the end of July. Each instructional
day runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and is divided into two sessions, a math
session and a reading session.
Parents are
asked to make a serious commitment to the program before registering their
children. If students consistently attend their scheduled sessions they can
progress in their reading and math skills.
The Elementary Summer Reading and Math Program owes its success to many
individuals. Parents, administrators, the PMSD Transportation Department and
the faculty and staff of Swiftwater
Elementary Center
all contribute the time and effort needed to allow students to take advantage
of this opportunity.
