Academy students do, in some cases, have the opportunity to recover, or “make-up” credits that they have failed in the past, thus allowing students to graduate on time, or closer to on time than if they remained in the traditional high school. The credit recovery program consists of practice work followed by an exam that enables the student to demonstrate that they have the knowledge required of the specific course. The exams were created by Academy teachers in conjunction with department supervisors, and are only offered to students whose behavior, attendance, and grades are at acceptable levels. As such, students may earn the privilege of credit recovery; it is not a right. Student eligibility for credit recovery is discussed at length at the enrollment conference.
