Summer School

Summer School:

A five-week session will be conducted during the summer for students who failed a core course with a minimum average grade of 55.  The principal may grand exceptions to the minimum grade of 55.  Students will be permitted to attend two (2) courses per summer school session.  There will be a fee established by the Board of Education, for each course.  An entrance and exit exam will be required for each course schedule.  Successful completion of summer school depends on student attendance, successful class work, and the completion of curricular expectations and assignments.  If a student does not complete the summer school assignment successfully he/she will need to repeat the grade level he/she had failed during the subsequent school year.

Senior Remediation:

The past practice of Senior Remediation has been discontinued for the 2007/2008 school year.  Senior Remediation in its past format will no longer exist.  However, students that find themselves having difficulty in their classes, find themselves in a deficit situation, and/or want to improve their understanding in a particular subject area, have the ability to participate in after-school tutoring programs in order to receive the assistance that the students require.  Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities that are present in order to become better prepared to satisfy the requirements of the students' current classes.  Students that are interested in academic assistance should seek direction from the Guidance Department
