Student Government Association
This is an exciting year here at Swiftwater Intermediate. It is the first time, in many years, that our sixth and seventh grades have been housed together. Being the first year of the “new” Swiftwater Intermediate, our Student Government has taken on many new roles. A few goals of the SGA are:
- Recycling throughout the building
- Running spirit related activities within the school
- Supporting local charities and non-profit organizations throughout the county
Students belonging to the Student Government need to be the “cream of the crop,” possessing the following characteristics:
- Leadership Qualities
- Responsibility
- Honesty
- Trustworthiness
- Positive role model
- Academically sound in all subject areas (students in the SGA must maintain a B average in all subjects throughout the year)
If students fail to prove that they meet these qualities they will be placed on probation. During the probation period the student will not be allowed to participate in any Student Government activity. In order to regain full status team teachers, school administrators, and I will meet with the student to see if progress has been made. If no progress has been made the student will be removed from the Student Government for the remainder of the school year.
Meetings will be held after school and the students will ride the 4:45 or 5:30 activity bus home. The SGA will meet once a month. Students will be told of meeting dates and times 2 weeks prior to the actual date. The activity bus is not the same as your child’s regular bus. It will drop your child off at a centralized location close to your home. Your child has the locations in which the bus can drop them off.
