Metropolitan Summer Reading Program
Every summer for more than eighty years, the Metropolitan Library System has offered a Summer Reading program to keep kids and their families reading all summer long. We believe reading is a fundamental skill and a gateway to success in life. Summer Reading is a community tradition that promotes reading for fun and lifelong enrichment.
Scholastic Summer Reading Program
The Scholastic Summer Reading Program is a free reading program that encourages students to read through the summer months. From April 26th through September 3rd, kids can visit the summer zone in Scholastic Home Base, a completely free digital destination which offers stories, characters, games, and a community of readers. Home Base is moderated for safety 24/7.

What’s not to love about summer reading? Opening an enticing novel under an umbrella by the pool is one of the joys of summer. For kids, reading in a hammock, under a tree, or in a tent are all great ways to enjoy books during the summer.
