WHS Morning Announcements 3.09.2020
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:
Please limit the use of fragrance sprays in the halls, as there are students with serious scent allergies.
Attention students who wish to drive to school. Parking permit applications are available in the main office. Students who drive to school must have a valid parking pass to drive to school and park in your numbered spot. Parking spots will be prioritized to those students involved in Diversified Occupation, scholastic sports, and after school clubs. Students are never permitted to park in the faculty lot or in the C lot.
Student parking is now being enforced. You must have a valid WHS parking permit in order to drive to school. All student drivers must park in their assigned spot. Consequences will be issued to student drivers who are not parking in their assigned spots or driving to school without a valid parking permit.
Flip flops or Slides are not permitted to be worn during the school day.
Students are to arrive on time for lunch each day. It is expected that students are in the cafeteria before the late bell rings. Students that are late to lunch will need a late pass or the lateness will be treated as a late to class.
Any student leaving school for an early dismissal must sign out through attendance and obtain a pass. Students leaving the building without following proper procedures will result in 3 days of ISS.
Students are reminded that they are not permitted to wear backpacks or book bags during the school day. String bags are allowed, but all book bags and backpacks need to be stored in their lockers.
Students are also reminded that they are not allowed to wear any facial piercings. These need to be removed prior to starting the school day.
Breakfast - Students should not enter the cafeteria to socialize without eating. If this happens students will receive a consequence.
Hooded sweatshirts are to be put in your locker before 1st period bell and are prohibited to be carried or worn throughout the day. No exceptions.
No food or drinks are permitted outside of the cafeteria. If you are caught with food or drinks in the hallways there will be consequences.
Please be advised that all students are to be supervised after school. Therefore, students are not allowed to "hang around" after school without being supervised by an adult. This also includes students "hanging around" at the West Jr. High School.
Students cannot stay after school unsupervised to wait for athletic events, you must go home and return for the event.

Anyone interested in joining the track & field team this season, please see the team bulletin board for paperwork. Cut off for new athletes will be March 14th.

East Penn Conference Student Character Council Representatives: The following student/athletes have been nominated and have accepted their nomination to serve on the SAC Council this year: Sheamus McCarrol & Caroline Wierich will continue to serve as our Sr. athlete reps. Juniors- Charli Cordoves and JD Greeley.
If you haven't been to the dentist this school year Consider signing up for the Mobile Dentist if you haven't been to the dentist this school year . Applications are in the nurse's office.
Student Council is currently searching for talented musicians, poets, artists, etc. to perform at Coffee House 2020, to be held on Thursday, April 23rd from 6pm - 9pm. Applications to perform at Coffee House are located outside of rooms 143 and 206 and are due back to Mr. McGovern by Thurs, March 26th. Late applications will not be accepted and priority will be given to those that are of high quality and fit the atmosphere of the event.
The next PAC meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19th. The sign-up sheet for the 19th meeting will be available next week at Rm 117.
Mrs. Long's tutoring will be moved from Tuesday, March 10th to Thursday, March 12th for next week.
Attention Seniors: The school year is quickly coming to an end. Have you pre-ordered your 2020 Yearbook? Don't delay. Order your yearbook before they sell-out. If you have any questions, or want to order your yearbook, see Mrs. Merino in C002.

For the past 16 years, our school has supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation throughout the month of March. We have raised over $40,000 in that time. Last year, we raised over $5000 to help Victoria get her Wish to go to Disney! This year, we are looking to raise $4400 to help TJ from Pocono Mountain East receive his Wish to visit Seattle. How can you help?*You can buy something at the bake sale during lunch each Friday. Everything costs just $1! You can donate in your homeroom to try to win the "Give a Wish, Get a Wish" competition. Every homeroom that raises at least $4/person will receive a classroom wish. The top three homerooms will win individual wishes for each person in their homeroom OR a classroom wish. You can stop by the school store during lunch to buy a special bag of candy and a Make-A-Wish bracelet. Let's help make TJ's wish come true!
Attention All Underclassmen! Sign-ups for the Underclassmen Escape take place from Monday, March 2nd to Friday, March 6th during the breakfast period in room 206. In order to sign up for the trip, students must bring all completed sign-up forms and either full payment of $95 or a down payment of $50. Students who do not sign up by the Friday, March 6th deadline will not be able to attend as the number of tickets and buses will be set at the conclusion of the week. If you have lost your packet and need another, you can print it from the Pocono Mountain website which can be accessed through pmsd.org.
The French Honor Society will have only 2 more regular meetings this year! French Honors students, if you have not yet attended one and want to remain on active status, you need to be at 4 of them in order to participate in the induction ceremony, and receive your recognition. Days available: Thursdays; March 12, and 19. Induction Ceremony will be after school on March 26.
Any student who is in need of tutoring for biology or general science should sign up at the appropriate room during breakfast or homeroom. See the flyers in the hallways for specific room numbers and days.
Mrs. Long's chemistry tutoring will be on Tuesdays in room 139. Please sign up in her classroom if you are interested in attending.

If you submitted an application to MCTI and did not receive notification that you are accepted, then you are now on a waitlist. For those interested, there are openings in:Outdoor Powersports and Equipment Technology, Precision Machining, Plumbing and Horticulture. Applications are in the guidance office.
PennDOT Announces 2019-20 Innovation Challenge:PennDOT is calling for high school students to participate in this year’s innovation challenge.
