Photo & Story By Gerald Greeley, School to Work Program
The PM East HS School to Work students, under the direction of teacher Jerry Greeley, set a new record by collecting and delivering 1,957 Jared Boxes to hospitals for hospitalized children during their 2017 Collection.
Mr. Greeley and his students began this community service project eight years ago and have collected more than 10,000 Jared Boxes, which are shoe box sized boxes filled with small crafts, games and activity items for children with chronic illnesses to enjoy while in the hospital.
Pocono Mountain’s students partner with the King’s College baseball team, youth players from Jerry Greeley's Player Development Baseball Academy, students from Rice Elementary in the Crestwood School District, students from The Vital House in the Hazleton School District and the Pennsylvania State Police on the Jared Box project.
Thank you to everyone who supports the annual Jared Box project.
