Pocono Mountain West High School National Art Honor Society students, under the guidance of Advisor Mrs. Miele-Beatty, designed a collection of sneakers for the Vans Custom Culture National High School Competition using blank Vans as a canvas to be customized around specific themes; Local Flair, Board Sports, Art, Music.
Students were also challenged to design a print that exemplifies technology in design.
Vans Custom Culture was created to inspire and empower high school students to embrace their creativity through art and design. Vans believe that everyone should be empowered to express him or herself creatively and should be given the tools to do so.
Design entries were due April 10. The public vote on finalists begins April 26 and runs through May 10. The top five student artists are flown to Los Angeles, Calif., to celebrate their artwork and to have the contest judges vote on the Grand Prize winning submission worth $50,000.
