East & West Junior HS student musicians selected to perform in the Marywood Honors Band Festival

Pocono Mountain East Junior High School and West Junior High School students attended the Marywood Honors Band Festival in Scranton, Pa., on December 1 and 2, 2023, culminating with a public performance on the second evening. West Junior HS students selected to perform in the Honors Band Festival included Andrew DeVita, Justin Carter, Mya Aragona-Young, and Mia Gilmore. East Junior HS students selected to perform in the Honors Band Festival included William Crosby, Hayden Christman, Benjamin Farda, Harmony Plywaczewski, Melody Plywaczewski, and Jasper Shelton.

Notable accomplishments included Andrew DeVita, West Junior HS, placing first overall on the French Horn, Hayden Christman, East Junior HS, placing first overall on Percussion, and Benjamin Farda, East Junior HS, placing overall on the Tuba. In addition, Justin Carter, West Junior HS, and Melody Plywaczewski, East Junior HS, also were selected for the Top Ensemble at the event.

Congratulations to the Pocono Mountain School District student musicians who were selected to participate in the Marywood Honors Band Festival.

The Marywood Honors Band Festival is one of the many music education opportunities available to district students. Pocono Mountain School District’s music education program is nationally recognized. The district was honored with its eighth consecutive Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for the district’s outstanding commitment to music education.
