Athletes of the Week
Brady Behr Football
Brady helped the Panthers with the “Pride of the Mountain” trophy this past Friday night. The Panthers defeated PM East 17-13 and Brady scored 2 touchdowns. He also had 44 rushing yards on 11 carries and 39 receiving yards on 3 catches.
Anthony Mendoza Football
Anthony helped the Panthers win the “Pride of the Mountain” trophy this past Friday night. The Panthers defeated Pm East 17-13 and Anthony had 4 catches for 28 yards on offense. On defense he had 5 tackles 1 forced fumble and 1 tipped pass.
Madelyn Krisch Girls’ Soccer
Maddy has accumulated 14 goals in total this season. Her drive to succeed and passion to play help our lady panthers stay motivated on the field. She is an outstanding player and will continue to do amazing things!
Angelyna McCaskill Girls’ Soccer
Ang has stepped up this year to play our varsity goalie and she has been a crucial player in doing so. She never gives up, loses hope, or is discouraged. She constantly steps up to the plate and demonstrates what it is to be a lady panther. Her persistence and determination never go unnoticed and she is appreciated so much.

Kayla Carter Tennis Senior
Kayla is a senior who has been playing tennis since sophomore year. This season, so far, Kayla has won an individual match in 1st singles against Whitehall and a 1st doubles match against Whitehall. Kayla works daily and in the off season to develop her tennis skills and her ability to compete on a high level in singles tennis. She is a team leader and demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship while representing West.
Shawn Belfon Cross Country Sophomore
Shawn has been a dedicated runner and team member since the beginning track season. He is accountable, reliable and has been working hard to meet pace times and his goals for the XC season. On Tuesday, he was the top mountain school finisher, setting a new career and season PR. We can't wait to see what the season brings!
Antonio Baric Boys Soccer Junior
Antonio Baric is the Goalkeeper for Boy's soccer He has endured an onslaught of shots for the past three games. He has had 15-20 saves including a penalty kick! He stays positive and ready for the next challenge promoting good leadership for our team.
Ryan Kaulfers Golf Senior
Ryan Kaulfers needed 2 low scores this week to push his average score low enough to make Leagues and Pre-districts (needed sub 82 average). Ryan had a score of 94 in there from earlier this season so his average was in jeopardy. He shot 75 at Pocono Pines (9/10) and 76 at Pocono Farms (9/11) in our last 2 matches to qualify with overall average 80.3.
Athletes of the Week - #1
Haddassah Talley Volleyball Junior
As a middle hitter in Haddassah's first two varsity games recorded a statime of 6 Aces, 8 kills on 12 attacks Hitting Efficency of .670%, 3 blocks and 3 digs. Great player. Does what is asked and never complains.
Colby Lawrence Boys Soccer Junior
As a center back, Colby was an instrumental part in our first win of the season. He was stellar in the back, shutting down two of Becca's top scorers. Contributing factors to our shut-out and adding the assist to the goal.
Mya Turner Tennis Senior
Mya is a senior who has been playing tennis since sophomore year. This season, so far, Mya has won an individual match in 2nd singles against Bethlehem Central Catholic and a 1st doubles match against Whitehall. Mya has worked hard over the past three seasons to develop into a solid, competitive, tennis player. She is a team leader and demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship while representing West.
Spring Athletes of the week #3
Jacob Ruiz
Junior - Boys Volleyball
Jacob had an outstanding week, having 6 kills and only 1 error vs. Nazareth. He followed that up with 12 kills and 4 errors vs. Bethlehem Catholic.
Genie Gilbride
Senior - Track
Genie placed first in all 4 events in both meets last week. Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault and 400 relay vs Allen and Dieruff. She continues to improve her stats each meet.
Ryder Bray
Junior - Baseball
Ryder pitched 8 innings last week giving up 1 earned run and striking out 8. He also batted .400 on the week with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs.
Spring Athletes of the week #2
Maddie Stultz
Senior - Softball
Maddie is batting .571 with 5 hits this week, 4 singles, 1 triple and 1 run scored. On the field Maddie has been our greatest utility playing CF, SS & 2B while committing 5 put outs this week.
Malachi Walters
Senior - Track
Malachi has been an integral part of the boys throws squad this year. He placed first in both shot and discus with career best throws against Northampton and ES North. This was a great start to an even better year to come.

Alivia Klipp
Senior - Softball
In the first 5 games of the season, Alivia has attained a batting average of .455, with a total of 5 hits (2 singles & 2 doubles) and 4 walks. She has scored 5 runs and 1 RBI. On the field, Alivia has had 19 putouts.
Matt Munoz
Senior - Baseball
Matt Munoz is Batting .667 with 12 hits, 5 doubles, 12 RBI's, 9 runs scored and 5 stolen bases while committing no fielding errors in the first 6 games of the season.

Ishbel Aparicio-Cruz
Junior - Swimming
Ishbel has been a dedicated swimmer all year long. Her work ethic paid off when she dropped 5 seconds in the 100 backstroke and earned a new PR in the 200 freestyle.
Jonathon Hineline
Senior - Wrestling
Jon continues to be a senior leader in the wrestling room and has improved every week this season. He placed 3rd in the Honesdale tournament earlier this month.
Sehaila Jones
Junior - Girls Basketball
Halie had two big games to end the season with two victories. She averaged 7 points per game and 11 rebounds in wins over PM East and Pleasant Valley.

Apple Ford
Junior - Girls Basketball
Apple had two great all around performances the last two games in wins over PM East and Parkland. She scored 14 points, had 7 rebounds & 6 assists vs. PME and 13 pts, 4 rebs 2 assists vs. Parkland.
Brandon Stiehler
Junior - Wrestling
Brandon went 2-0 this past week, pinning both of his opponents, Northampton and W. Allen. Brandon is 14-2 on the season and has continued to be a good teammate and leader for the wrestling program.
Devin Artis
Junior - Boys Basketball
Devin averaged 10 points per game over the last 2 games versus Parkland and Pleasant Valley. He also had a great defensive effort in holding their leading scorers under 10 points in both games.
Yeandri Gomez
Sophomore - Swimming
Yeandri has improved over the winter season and has now dropped 20 seconds in the 200 free & 3 seconds in the 100 fly. He is always one of the first athletes in the pool and always cheers on his teammates.

Vatijah Davis
Senior - Girls Basketball
Vatijah has been a consistent offensive scoring threat throughout her career. In the Stroudsburg game on December 20th Vatijah scored 30 points and reached the 1000 point milestone for her career.
Carter Mui
Junior - Swimming
Carter broke the school record in the 100 fly with time of 53.71 against Parkland. He also broke Northampton's pool record in 100 breast with time of 59.75 old record was 1:01.41. Carter has placed 1st in every individual event he's swam this season.
KJ Coles
Freshman - Boys Basketball
KJ has averaged 17 points per game over the last 3 games including wins over James Monroe and Freedom. He also shot 90% from the foul line making 18 out of 20 attempts.

Austin Fein
Junior - Cross Country
Austin has been consistent through the entire season. At the Panther Pounce, he hit a career and season PR placing 3rd in the race. I appreciate his hard work and dedication throughout the season.
Matt Marinovich
Senior - Football
Matt had 91 yards rushing on offense and scored a touchdown in helping defeat PM East 20-6 on Friday night. He also had 6 tackles including 1 sack to retain the Pride of the Mountain trophy.
Keziah Delph
Junior - Flyer Cheerleading
Keziah works hard to accomplish goals set forth by her teammates and coaches. Keziah also helps others to achieve their goals. Keziah is a well-rounded cheerleader who always goes above and beyond and is a positive role model to her teammates.

Bella Beautz
Senior - Volleyball
Bella recorded her 400th career kill and 100th career service ace while the team went 2-2 beating Catasaqua and North Pocono to qualify for districts.
Will Mecca
Junior - Football
Will had 4 catches for 68 yards on offense and had 5 solo tackles on defense to help the football team beat ES South 10-8 last Friday night.

Julian Fein
Junior - Cross Country
Julian is a first year member of the XC team. He has consistently dropped time every meet out this year. Yesterday, he broke his career and season PR, which was a 5 minute and 30 second drop since the first meet this season.
Blaise McCarroll, Malachi Walters, Brandon Stiehler, Joey Ewing and Nehemiah Brown
Football
This group, which consists of the offensive line, helped PM West rush for over 200 yards and pass for over 100 yards in a decisive victory over William Allen on Friday night at Homecoming. The 42-6 win was the 3rd for the Panthers this year!

Luke DeRiggi
Senior – Running Back Football
Luke rushed for 150 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns in a decisive win over ES North on Friday night with a 43-12 victory.
Kaya Meler
Junior Cross Country
Kaya has had an outstanding start to the 2022 season. Placing in the top 5 in the first 2 meets, she ran a career and season best time to win the meet on Tuesday against Easton, Northampton and Nazareth. Kaya’s time broke the school and junior records with a time of 19:17. She is now one of the top runners of the league and in districts.

Jenesis Bermudez
Junior - Goalkeeper Girls Soccer
Jenesis made two ESPN “highlight” saves to preserve the 4-0 shutout win over Dieruff. Jenesis records quality saves in all of our games.
Aliva Klipp
Senior co-captain Volleyball
Aliva broke the school career record for digs during a win at Dieruff. She now has more than 700.
Aliva already holds the career record in service aces as well as single-season records in digs and aces.
Recently, Aliva was named the Channel 13 Female Athlete of the Week and she was the 2021 Pocono Record Volleyball Player of the Year.
Athletes of the week for September 12-17:
Tyrese Hesterbey Football
Tyrese had 6 catches for 121 yards and returned a kickoff for an 84 yard touchdown, helping the Panthers to beat Dieruff 49-26 on Friday night.
Chloe Lawrence Girls Soccer
Chloe secured our defense with a shut-out win vs. ES North. Contributed to the goal (for the win) on a set piece. Always gives heart, guts and leaves it all on the field for West Lady Panthers

Athlete of the week
Tori Moore - Volleyball
Tori recorded 10 kills and had a .471 hitting percentage as the Panthers began their season 3-0. Tori also recorded 7 aces and 2 solo blocks.

Jena McHugh
Cheerleading
Jena is a leader on the team, always motivating others to do her best. She performed at States with a slight injury and pushed through to help her team perform the best that they have performed all season and her talent level and strength is a huge asset to our team and program.
Demond Marshall
Cheerleading
Demond's tumbling and expertise in stunting bring so much to our team.
His performance at States was excellent and he is always someone who motivates others to achieve their own success as well.
Demond is always working hard to improve his own skills and to make himself the best cheerleader that he can possibly be.

Danny Lawrence Cross Country
Danny has been consistently getting better each week. Ran a season and career PR with a time of 17:19, dropping almost 2 minutes off his season best from the beginning of the season. He placed 4th in a tight race last week, within 19 seconds of 1st place out of over 80 runners.
Tierra Hudson Field Hockey
As the goalie on the field hockey team Tierra had an incredible week, she had 63 total saves,

12 vs. Pleasant Valley

Caroline Weirich Girls Soccer
Caroline scored 5 Goals (a "glut") vs. Dieruff to solidify their win 5-3. A leader on and off the field despite some of the obstacles we need to overcome.
Joel Weirich Boys Soccer
Joel had a hat Trick (3 goals) in a win over Dieruff and an assist in a tight fought 4-3 victory against PM East.

Ella Bray - Cross CountryRan 23:04 in the opening meet of the year at PV on Tuesday - placing 15th out of almost 50 runners. Then on Sunday at the Panther Pounce, she broke into the 22s (22:56) and placed 10th overall and 1st amongst females.Preston Green - Football5 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception ran back for a touchdown, 1 offensive touchdown in victory Friday night over William Allen

Caroline Weirich - Girls Soccer
The past week Caroline scored, 4 goals 2 against a very strong Pleasant Valley and two goals vs. a strong Notre Dame squad. She is our captain and our leader.
Chris Tambasco - Boys Soccer
Chris had 8 goals in 5 games while the boys soccer team won 4 out of 5 games.
4/3/19:
Individually, Deion placed 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles PRing with a time of 45.69 and 3rd in the 110 meter hurdles just off his personal best. Later in the week he placed first in the 300 hurdles with ANOTHER personal record of 43.50, which has him tied for 10th place in the league.
Shavonna Ramlogan - Track
In her debut 300m hurdle race, she placed first with a season and career best time of 54.10 against William Allen She also ran the 3rd leg on the winning 1600m relay team. Yesterday, this gritty freshman was out to a fierce start in the hurdles when she fell up over the 5th hurdle. She could’ve easily gave up. But she didn’t quit. She quickly got up, and finished the race in 1st place almost beating her previous time! Shavonna also ran a leg on the 4x400m relay team Monday.
3/25/19:
Male
Sheamus McCarroll - Track
Placed 2nd in the boys javelin event against ESS with a throw of 162-3. PRed nearly 20 feet since last season while breaking the junior class record. Sheamus is willing to do work in the offseason to better his performance for his main event. He has been setting the example from day 1.
Female
Tiera Hudson - Track
Broke the school and sophomore record in the girls shot, improving her 2018 season school record breaking throw by 10 inches with a first place throw of 38-1. This is a state qualifying distance. Tiera also placed 4th in the girls discus yesterday.

Juanita won the 100m dash breaking the Junior record with a time of 12.4, won the 200m two meets in a row (25.3 and 25.9) and won the long jump two meets in a row.

Greg has won the District XI Championship and Regional Championship at 220, while also placing 3rd at the PIAA State Wrestling Championship.

Diego Mendieta - Swimming - Diego broke 3 school records this year so far 100 fly (broke 3x this year) 500 free and 100 back.

The Varsity Cheerleaders have won their straight 7th District XI Championship. In addition to this, they also competed at the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championship, advancing to finals. They are now 5th in the state of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations go out to Matt Mussenden, Kelly Tyler, and Madison Moore for this week's male and female athletes of the week. Matt Mussenden, football player, Matt had 202 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns in the win over Pleasant Valley. Kelly Tyler, Tennis went 2-0 last week in her matches over Tamaqua and E.S. North. Madison Moore, volleyball, served at over 94% last week in four matches and led the team in both kills and blocks.

Congratulations go out to football player Dylan Delvalle and girls soccer player Caroline Weirich for earning this week's male and female athletes of the week. Dylan had 227 yrs passing on 19 completions and 2 TD passes. Caroline had a great game vs. East, tireless work rate in the middle of the filed, she also had 3 goals and 1 assist vs. Allen, and a goal vs. Becca.
9/15/17:
Congratulations go out to golfer Tom Gaudette and girls soccer player Kathrynn Gonzalez for earning this week's male and female athletes of the week. Tom shot a pair of 76's and earned medalists in both his matches last week.....while Kathrynn had 4 goals in the girls soccer victory over ES North!
