To provide diverse opportunities for all students to become responsible members of the global community

Pocono Mountain East High School is located in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, and currently houses students in grades nine through twelve. Our school is joined on campus by Pocono Mountain East Junior High School, Swifwater Intermediate School and  Swiftwater Elementary Center. We currently have 1520 students enrolled in our educational programs. 

East High School offers a comprehensive curriculum and provides quality learning experiences in the “core four”: English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, a myriad of curricular opportunities are provided for the exploration and study of the visual and performing arts, technological applications, business education, family and consumer sciences, health and wellness, and foreign languages. Participation in co-curricular activities such as clubs and interscholastic sports is strongly encouraged.

National History Day is a Success - posted - Monday, April 07, 2014

Congratulations to the students from Pocono Mountain East High School who competed in the National History Day Competition at Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, April 5th. Two of our entries were selected to move ahead to the State Competition in May! Well done.

EHS Students Excel in Pocono Arts Council Show -Posted - Tuesday, March 11, 2014
The Pocono Arts Council named three East High School students award winners in the 21st Annual Pocono Arts Council Student Art show. In the 2-D category, Allan Gonzales received the Honorable Mention for his work "Edges", and in Photography Kira Warner was awarded 2nd place for "Stonyfork Crane" and Andrew Krug received an Honorable Mention for "Blue Heron". Allan, Kira, and Andrew, along with seven other EHS students submitted their work for judging.  read more ...

Chess Team Wins State Tournament! - Posted - Tuesday, March 11, 2014

The Pocono Mountain East High School Chess Team won the PA State Chess Championship held in Carlisle on March 7-9. Coached by Mr. Larry Bias, the team outscored all opponents in claiming their second straight State Championship!

Members of the Team State Champs include senior Alexander S Quirindongo, junior Andy Weng,  sophomore Daniel A Tartaglione, and sophomore Dawid Ryczek.


Individual Awards earned included Andy Weng, Co-Individual State Champ for all 11th grade students, John D'Orsi Tied for 1st K-12 U1000 (perfect score), Joe Mele 1st for K-12 U800 (four wins and one loss)


K-12 U1000 2nd place team divisional finishers were John A Loza, Alex M Brown, Trevor G Ritzke, John D'Orsi and  Joe Mele.

Kyle Gray Named Scholar Athlete - Posted - Friday, March 07, 2014
The Mountain Valley Conference named senior Kyle Gray as one of its Winter Scholar Athletes for 2014.  Kyle is a member of the East High School Swim Team and competes in the individual medley, backstroke and butterfly. Kyle is also actively involved in Mock Trial, Boy Scouts, and Evirothon. Well done, Kyle!  read more ...

Mock Trial Wins District Championship - Posted - Monday, March 03, 2014

Pocono Mountain East’s Mock Trial team won the Pennsylvania Bar Association District Championship which was held at Stroudsburg Courthouse on February 27.  PME had three rounds of competition and was the only undefeated team.  The team will now move on to face Abington Heights in the Regional competition at the Federal Courthouse in Scranton in March. Best of luck to our budding lawyers.

Junior Academy of Science Soars - Posted - Monday, March 03, 2014

Congratulations to students from the EHS who competed in the 53rd Region 2 Meeting of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science held at Wilkes University this past Saturday.

These students received an Excellence Award for their category of science for Senior High: 

Biology – Daniel Christenson

Botany – Daniel Shaykevich

Computer Science – Kyler Ruvane

Microbiology – Christopher Govus


Also Kyler Ruvane also received additional Advisory Award of $500.

The following students achieved a first award and will be representing our schools at the state competition this May at The Pennsylvania State University in State College:

Mikolaji Juzczyk, Kyler Ruvane (perfect score), Andy Weng, Richard Trott, Chelsea Gamble, Rachel House, Toniann Helvick, Daniel Serfass, Evan Battisto.Connor Braithwaite (perfect score), Christopher Govus (perfect score), Sarah Ahmed, Mindy Rinker, Shanice Lyle, Jake Lombardino, Devarshi Gohil, Luke Hohenstein, Russell House and Suhail Kaleem.

National Art Honor Society Supplies Social Outreach - Posted - Sunday, March 02, 2014

Bergen Price Selected for All-State Chorus! - Posted - Tuesday, February 25, 2014
The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, PMEA, announced that it selected Pocono Mountain East senior Bergen Price to attend All-State Chorus in March 2014. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon the top 200 vocalists in the state. Bergen's selection was the result of multiple auditions through District and Regional competitions,culminating in this honor. Fantastic job, Bergen.  read more ...

Wrestling Places Three - Two Qualify for Regionals - Posted - Monday, February 24, 2014
East wrestlers James Palys,Nick Price, and Jordan Kloiber placed at last weekend's District XI Wrestling Tournament.  James was third at 145 pounds, Nick was fourth at 182 pounds, and Jordan was sixth at 138 pounds. By virtue of their respective places, James and Nick qualify for the Northeast Regional Tournaments this weekend in Bethlehem, PA. Roundballers Set School Records - Posted - Monday, February 24, 2014
Pocono Mountain East girls basketball plyers Khyasia Caldwell and Alpreshia Parker tied or set new school records during the 2013-2014 season.  On February 12 Khyasia Caldwell amassed 23 rebounds in a single game tying her with Vanessa Van DeVenter for the school record. Alpreshia Parker made 80 free throws during the season to take her spot as a Cardinal record holder. Congratulations!  read more ...

Steel Stacks Jazz Fest Success - Posted - Monday, February 24, 2014
The Pocono Mountain East jazz Ensemble earned a rating of "Excellent" at the Steel Stacks Jazz Fest in Bethlehem, PA on February 23.  Senior Teresa Mattura was named best vocalist and freshman Vishal Forde earned best saxophone soloist. Way to go Teresa, Vishal and the other members of the group.

East High School will be hosting a Jazz Festival at home on April 5th with bands and combos coming from Easton, Bangor, Phillipsburg, East Stroudsburg South, and Tunkhannock.  read more ...

Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Competition Awards - Posted - Thursday, February 20, 2014
East students Matthew Sobanko and Daniel Shaykevich earned awards at the recently completed Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.  Matthew received an Honorable Mention for his collection of poems. Daniel earned an Honorable Mention for his dramatic script and a Gold Key Award for his science fiction/fantasy. NEPA Bridge Building Competition Success - Posted - Thursday, February 20, 2014
The Northeast PA Bridge Building Competition is complete and East students Dawid Ryczek and Matthew Henry represented the school exceptionally well. The competition goal for each participant was to build the most efficient bridge possible within the given parameters. Matthew finished in 9th place and Dawid's bridge earned him a 2nd place award. Dawid has qualified for the National Bridge Building Competition  which will be held in Chicago.  This is our first student to make it to Nationals in this event. Girls Basketball Reaches District Playoffs - Posted - Wednesday, February 19, 2014
Congratulations to the PM East girls basketball team on qualifying for the District XI basketball tournament.  The Cardinal's first game is against league rival Pleasant Valley on Friday, February 21st at Northampton Area High School. Tip-off time is 6:00 PM.  Good luck Cardinals!  read more ...

Cheerleaders Head Off to States - Added - Thursday, January 16, 2014
The Pocono Mountain East Cheerleading squad qualifed for the PIAA State Competitive Spirit Championships to be held Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25. 2014 Exxon/Mobil Educational Alliance Grant - Added - Sunday, January 12, 2014
Pocono Mountain East High School is pleased and proud to report it is the recipient of a $500 Exxon/Mobil Educational Alliance Grant.  Obtained through the support of Liberty Petroleum Distributors in Harford, PA, the grant will be utilized to support environmental education activities and the 2014 Envirothon team.  read more ...

Winter Student Parking Permits - Posted - Monday, November 18, 2013
Fall Parking Permits expired on Thursday, November 14.  If you currently have only a fall parking permit and you are joining a winter sports team or club, you can apply for a winter parking Permit.  Please pick up a new parking permit application in the main office, get all required signatures and collect all of the necessary documentation to apply for a Winter Parking Permit. Please complete this form promptly so we can issue your permit for the start of the winter sports seasons.

Expired Fall Parking Permits will be collected on Monday, November 18.

Remember, parking is a privilege and it is the driver's duty to drive responsibly while on school grounds.  Thank you for your cooperation.  read more ...
