BIO Coach Pero started swimming competitively at the age of three for the Pocono Family YMCA Piranhas. She is a record holder and qualified for districts and states from 1992-2001 placing eighth in the state. She went to YMCA Nationals in Florida. In the summers she also competed for the Palmer Swim Team. Coach Pero is a 2001 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School. She was a four year Varsity letter winner and three year captain of the Swim Team. As a seventh grader she broke the 100 yard Backstroke record while swimming exhibition during a regular season meet. She held records for the 50 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Freestyle, 200 yard Medley Relay, 200 yard Freestyle Relay,400 yard Medley Relay, and held the 100 yard Backstroke record from 1999-2016.Coach Pero was a four year district qualifier in multiple events, choosing the 200 Medley Relay, 50 yard Freestyle, 100 yard backstroke and 400 yard Freestyle Relay to compete in. She also was a four year Varsity letter winner and two year captain of the Girls Soccer Team. Coach Pero made the 1st Team All Stars her sophomore through senior year. She made the Lehigh Valley Select team and played on numerous travel teams. Coach Pero has also received MVP and Coaches Awards during the All-Sports Banquet her sophomore, junior and senior years in both soccer and swimming. Coach Pero attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2005 receiving a B.S in Family Consumer Sciences K-12 Education & Art K-12 Education. She obtained her Masters in Education from Gratz College in 2014. Coach Pero has been a member of the Athletic Staff at West since 2005. Varsity Asst. Girls Volleyball Coach 2005-2009, Head Volleyball Coach 2009-2012, Varsity Asst. Swim Coach 2005-2008, Varsity Asst. Girls Soccer Coach 2005-20222. Head Varsity Boys & Girls Swim Coach 2022-Present. She has been a Family & Consumer Science teacher at Pocono Mountain West since 2005. She was also an Assistant Coach and Head Coach for the Pocono Farms Swim Team from 2001-2021.

OFF SEASON PROGRAM

Intramurals will run from September-November.

Weightlifting is encouraged throughout the entire school year. Contact Coach Pero to sign up.

It’s highly recommended to join a summer swim team. Communities with swim teams include Pocono Farms, Lake Naomi, Arrowhead Lakes and Sierra View. The Pocono Family YMCA also offers swim teams throughout the entire year, and also just during the summer.
