Degrees and Certifications:
David Orehotsky has been the Speech and Debate advisor at PM East since 2005. He has also been an English teacher at PM East since 2005. In addition, he is a member of the Wilkes University Speech Program. Prior to working at East, he also taught in Alabama and Portugal. Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a hospital manager and a television reporter for a station in Alaska. Education: Masters Degree in English Education from Wilkes University. Bachelor's Degree in English Communications from Wilkes University.
Mr. David Orehotsky
East HS is typically the dominant force in the Mountain Valley Division of EPC, qualifying for the championships in all but one of the last eight years.
Program Expectations/Philosophy:
In Speech and Debate, students are expected to develop arguments focusing on academic rigor and dominate through thoughtful, well-developed arguments.
Upcoming Season Goals:
The goal is to rebuild the program after the impact of Covid on the 2020-21 season.
