Pocono Mountain School District (PMSD) has processes and procedures in place to respond to, manage, and stop the spread of infectious illnesses that could impact its students, staff and schools. District officials are actively monitoring all PA Department of Health (DOH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) information and updates related to coronavirus (COVID-19).
The District has a direct point-of-contact with the DOH who helps guide its efforts if there is a health issue or concern. The District coordinates with health experts on the appropriate steps to take when it comes to parent and public notification, cleaning and sanitizing of schools, and any other measures to prevent, reduce, or contain the spread of any communicable and/or infectious illnesses.
PMSD custodians implemented the CDC’s recommendations for flu season and pandemic flu situations at the start of the regular flu season and continue those measures daily. Custodians also implemented the CDC's and DOH's recommendations for COVID-19. More information on the measures PMSD is taking to prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19 in its schools can be found in the PMSD Health and Safety Plan (Revised 12-04-2024).
