• PMSD Continuity of Education Plan Overview:

The PMSD Continuity of Education Plan provides the educational roadmap the District has been following since the COVID-19 closure of schools and will continue to follow for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to provide appropriate educational instruction and opportunities to all students, consistent with the latest guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as of April 15, 2020. The April 15 guidelines directed school districts to begin planned instruction for all students to the greatest extent possible. Prior to the April 15 guidelines, school districts were allowed to provide enrichment and review educational opportunities for students. The move to planned instruction is also a move from optional participation by students to mandatory participation by students with the resources and capability to participate in planned instruction. PMSD’s Administrative Team will continually review the District’s Continuity of Education Plan and make revisions as needed to ensure consistency with any new guidelines issued by the Department of Education.

GOAL: The goal of PMSD is to continue educating all students by providing uninterrupted educational opportunities that reinforce and continue the course and/or grade level learning objectives for District students through the last scheduled day of the 2019-20 school year during the COVID-19 school closure.

PMSD officials understands the many challenges District families face due to the COVID-19 school closure. District officials are committed to supporting parent’s efforts to create a scheduled, structured, and daily educational routine while children are at home. The PMSD administrative team has carefully researched resources to assist parents’ efforts and support the reinforcement and maintenance of previously learned skills to keep children engaged in the educational process while schools remain closed across Pennsylvania.
