K-12 Summer Extended Learning Opportunities
Students come to school from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. For students who need an extra boost to be successful academically, what happens before and after school can be as important as what happens during the school day. When school-age children and teens have access to quality extended learning programs, they are more likely to receive higher grades, stay in school, and engage constructive activities supervised by responsible adults. The Pocono Mountain School District has the following summer extended learning opportunities for its students:
Grades K-5 Pathblazer (https://www.thelearningodyssey.com/): The Pathblazer system remains open all summer for K-5 students. Students engage with online instructional content, are provided the opportunity to practice, and take activity quizzes to provide feedback. Great tool to keep pace in math and ELA and to prepare for the upcoming school year! Your student's login information remained the same from during the school year, but if you need help accessing the Pathblazer system, please contact your school building's administration.
Grades 6-12 Edgenuity Learning Loss and Booster Courses (https://auth.edgenuity.com/Login/Login/Student): Learning Loss and Booster courses are designed to ensure that students have the content and skills that were addressed during the previous school year in order to be prepared for the upcoming school year. They cover core concepts and provide additional resources all in an effort to help them focus on the skills they need to master. Please contact your 6-12 school building's administration regarding access to 6-12 Edgenuity's Learning Loss and Booster courses.
Ready4K (https://ready4k.parentpowered.com/): Ready4K is an evidence-based family engagement curriculum delivered via text messages providing the tools to help build language and literacy skills. Parents and caregivers receive weekly fun facts and easy tips on how to promote their children’s development by building on existing family routines – like pointing out letters on the cereal box at breakfast, counting the number of steps as you walk to the car or bus, or making feeling faces in the mirror after you brush your teeth. If you have a child in Kdg or First grade, please contact your school building's administration regarding access to the Ready4K system.
CK-12 Summer FlexLets (https://www.ck12.org/pages/flexlets/): CK-12 is providing resources to help students bridge the gap between this school year and next year. The FlexLets resources provide opportunities in math and science to prepare for the upcoming year. Please visit the site to view the interactive FlexLets for math and science. CK-12 also offers a wide array of other materials. While visiting the site, please check out the additional CK-12 Student Resources.
Summer Enrichment Packets: The K-12 student enrichment packets are optional, but we ask that you encourage your child(ren) to complete them during the summer in order to maintain skills learned or learn new skills as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Please contact your school building's administration regarding these packets.
