On behalf of our entire Pocono Mountain School District and Board of Education, I extend my most sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of an 11^th grade student from the Pocono Mountain East High School who died Wednesday evening. We pray for the student, their family, friends, and teachers as our school community copes with this terrible loss.  

Whenever there is a death of a child within our community, our students and staff have trouble grieving, understanding and coping. We will have crisis counselors available at the East High School for as long as needed to help our students, faculty and staff.

Our Swiftwater Campus will be closed to the media during school hours for the remainder of the week as we try to help our school community through this terrible tragedy.
