Dear PMSD Community,
I am so excited to announce that Pocono Mountain School District has been selected as a National School Boards Association (NSBA) 2025 Magna Awards silver winner (5,000 to 20,000 enrollment category) for our district-wide STEAM Integration Program and efforts. The NSBA signature awards program recognizes exemplary school district programs. The focus for the 2025 awards was on innovation in education, creativity, and out-of-the-box strategies to solve educational challenges.
Our award nomination included our journey in integrating STEAM throughout curricular areas and across the district over several years, and harnessing the power of technology to better meet the needs of our students. Some STEAM initiatives we are very proud of include the Art STEAM-Maker Technology group, the Outbreak-Alert program in partnership with Sanofi and in collaboration with the DaVinci Science Center, STEAM kits for families, dedicated STEAM courses, Code Joy, the Filament Innovations partnership that brought their 3D expertise into our classrooms through zoom classes, the STEM summit for K to 12 teachers, What’s So Cool About Manufacturing, Spring Into Happiness, Makey Kits of invention materials, Magic School and Merlyn Mind for AI. PMSD will be featured in the April issue of the American School Board Journal.
Thank you to all of our teachers, students, instructional directors and the technology department, who believe in the power of STEAM and who have worked so hard to integrate STEAM opportunities into our K to 12 educational programming for students of all abilities. This award is for all of them.
